In the
year 2000
we found
a wonderful
little
house
nestled
in the
hillside
of the
town of
Nelson.
After
many trips
to the
Nelson
area,
we felt
that there
was a
need for
a place
that offered
hospitality
and made
a home
for the lonely
and
seeking
people
who
journey
to this
beautiful
place
looking
for
a refuge.
That
was
four
years
ago. Since
then we
have converted
our little
house
into one
of the
most
popular
cafe/restaurants
in town.
We serve
organic
meals
that attract
people
from all
over the
region.
As our
house
has become
what we
envisioned,
we also
have grown
from one
family
to a community
of over
twenty
people.
We now
live on
a wonderful
farm 15km
west of
Nelson.
Mt. Sentinel
Farm is
a 130-acre
domain
where
we are
busy growing
vegetables
and raising
goats,
cows,
chickens,
etc. along
with our
wonderful
children.
When we
arrived
on the
farm we
found
a dry
pasture
leading
up to
a rather
run down,
but rustic
old log
house
tucked
up against
a forested
mountain.
Over the
course
of the
last few
years
while
running
our cafe
in town
we have
revived
the farm
and it
has become
a thriving
village/farm.
Our vision
for this
area is
being
fulfilled.
We, the
Community
of the
Kootenays,
want to
extend
a warm
invitation
to any
who will
accept
it.
