In the middle of a fallow field ownedby Farmer Brown there was once alarge anthill, teeming with burly redants. Highly intelligent, sophisticatedcreatures they were, maintaining amodern civilized society complete withcentralized government and a university which taught history, science, psychology, sociology, philosophy, and political science. One gentle spring afternoon a strangeant approached —a black ant. Scout antswatched, scrutinizing every move. Heclimbed the hill slowly, sideways, favoringan injured leg. The presidential complexwas alerted, and a special contingent wassent out to meet the alien.
